Hi there! Welcome to Grounded at Home. My name is Meghan Conway, and I started this blog as a way to connect to other new mamas and mamas-to-be. It’s my creative outlet; something uniquely mine during an often very selfless day. During pregnancy and now as a mom, I’ve felt totally overwhelmed by outside opinions and methods to parenthood. It seemed like everyone but me knew “the right way” to raise a kid, yet so much of what I read and heard seemed contradictory, felt oppressive, or just wasn’t working for me. This blog is my way of sifting through endless parenting information and sharing solutions that have worked for me. Maybe some of the ideas you’ll read here will help you. But some won’t, and that’s OK! Hopefully as you watch me search for my sanity and direction, you’ll at least remember you’re not alone in this messy thing called parenting. We’re all just trying to stay grounded and raise grounded kids.

On top of being a new mom, I’m a teacher. I’ve taught 4th Grade, Special Education, and Kindergarten. Education is hugely important to me. I taught and lived in New York City for a few years, but have since moved to New Jersey, gotten married, and had a baby (classic!). I wouldn’t trade my city years for anything as they formed who I am today as a person and a teacher–and now as a mom.

I couldn’t make it through the day without coffee (I tried once and it really was ugly), I’m obsessed with Fixer Upper and the Gaines family (who isn’t?), and can’t wait to decorate and “fix up” our new little house. My most favorite days are the ones spent doing very normal things with my husband Zach and daughter Cora (although I’m also pretty fond of days spent in exotic locales). I hope that this blog brings greater intention to my day-to-day life and reflects my love for family, education, and all the little things.

Please reach out if there is something you have on your mind that deserves some attention here! I’d love to chat, connect, and explore motherhood together!
